Arched steel structures
Arched steel structures are used mainly for those types of prefabricated buildings where emphasis is placed on speed and flexibility of construction. Arched halls are typically used for warehouses and are supplied with cladding in the form of tarpaulin, trapezoidal sheet metal, or insulated sandwich panel systems.
Main Advantages of Arched Steel Structures
Steel arched structures are self-supporting and their dimensions are adjusted by bending tubular profiles to the radius required by the project documentation. The bottom and top chords are connected by vertical and diagonal elements, mostly made from tubes and rods of various sizes. The individual frames, which are usually spaced 2-3m apart, are connected by K-shaped bracing, which holds the lower part of the structure and ensures maximum spatial rigidity. Profiles are designed according to the snow and wind load zones.
Types of structures by width:
- K-9m
- K-12m
- K-18m
- K-25m
The lengths of individual halls are supplied according to the investor’s wishes in 2m increments. For K-9 and K-12 halls, we are able to deliver in tarpaulin design.
Advantages of arched structures:
- Can be built without foundations for sizes up to 18m
- Simple modularity in 2m increments
- Possibility of future expansion
- Self-supporting structure
- Possibility of using tarpaulin
Disadvantages of arched structures:
- Lower volumetric space utilization for shelving
- More difficult to insulate than conventional halls
